I've been meaning to do this for some time now. As some might think it's easy, but, honestly, it's not! Been reading a lot about Brett Harkness and the tip that he keeps giving, that is to practice by limiting yourself with only a 50mm lens. Hasn't been easy. But, finally did some for today. Even managed a self portrait too! :D

Everyday I think about what's going on in my life and I realized that I need to look closer around me and see what's important and what I need to focus on. One thing I notice the most is how slowly my photography is growing. Weddings are one thing, but I need to get some serious time to go out and just shoot. Street photography is one thing I love doing as it's a good practice for me when it comes to capturing moments. Now, all I need is the time to just go out and shoot.

Another thing that I've noticed, and this is the most important thing for me, is that how fast time flies and how fast my daughter is growing. Even now I still remember how she was when she was just born. Now, she running all over the place and best of all is that she understands things that we say to her. That is thanks to the multi lingual house we live in at the moment. I'm glad to see that she can understand both Iban, Bidayuh and even Malay (Thanks to her uncle Paul). Now, I'm seriously eager to see her grow up even more. Not to mention when she's going to have her very own little brother/sister later on.

For me, whatever skills I've attained with my photography, job, music, there's nothing that can beat the feelings that I've gotten from being a father to my beautiful daughter. Looking at her every day just gives me the wonderful feeling of absolution and comfort that no other things I own can give me. And seeing her smile, it just takes away any pain or stress that I have on any day.

And her mother, my beautiful wife, being with her and spending my whole life with her and our children will be the best gift that god has ever given me and I'll cherish it for as long as I may live. I love you my wonderful and beautiful family.

Family Trip To Borneo Highland

It's been a while since I've wanted to go to Borneo Highland with my family. And now that I'm working in Kota Samarahan, it's just an hour or two away. Which would mean that I can go there whenever my budget permits. And since this month, my budget did permit it and also my wife was on holiday, we were on our way to Borneo Highland.

Before we started our journey on that morning, we had our breakfast at Uncle Apek's noodle restaurant. It's a family favorite noodle place since it's owned by my wife's uncle. I had my usual Kolomee Special, while everyone else had their own choices of different noodles.

And after the yummy breakfast, it was time to go to Borneo Highland. It was roughly and hour and fourty minutes from our place to Borneo Highland's gates where we can buy tickets and use their bus-trucks to reach the peak. You can use your own cars, BUT, it's at your own risk. And trust me, I wouldn't risk it at all. Not our precious car.

This road was steep. And this area was not the steepest.

Riding on the Bus-Truck was not as comfortable as we'd expected, but it got the job done. Even Momo was sweating all the way to the top due to the non air-conditioning, but she was ok about it. Even wanted us to put her down so she can walk around, but obviously that's not happening since the ride was really dangerous and she's not complete balanced with her walk yet. But, she was a little trooper, so, she sat quietly with mummy and papa.

I didn't notice that the guy behind us was playing with Momo. A million Thanks to the guy. He helped us quite a lot during the trip. And we didn't even know him. Thank You.

Upon reaching the top, we got down the Bus Truck and was told to get on another bus to go further up the top. While waiting for the driver, Momo got down and wanted to go for a walk and explore her new surroundings.

After the bus driver arrived, we got on as he explained about our trip and where we'll be heading. First off is the tea house and the garden. Reaching there, I saw a few photographers taking pictures of a married couple. That somehow gave me an idea of where I'll be taking my next wedding job for their outdoor portrait shoot. And before the tea house, it was group photo time.

At the tea house, there was supposed to be a tea ceremony demonstration, but when we reached there, there was nothing much happening. But there was this guy who was playing a Chinese instrument that really got me. His was really awesome with that instrument and really have to credit him. Love the music he plays. And always a great thing for me to see someone who can read musical scores. A musician myself, I was more self taught, so, I never learned much about musical scores. I played my instruments based on what I like while playing random chords.

After going around the Tea House, decided to go out and take a few shots of Momo, Mummy, Bibiey and Paul around the garden before we went off to our next pit stop.

After leaving the Tea House, we boarded the same bus to go to our next destination which would be the peak of Borneo Highland and also the border between Sarawak and Kalimantan. First off, I'd have to say that the view from up top is absolutely breathtaking. It was absolutely a landscape photographer's dream come true to shoot the scenery from the peak.

And since we're at the top of Borneo Highland, a family portrait was a must. And another must was that I had to be included in the shot. So, it was time for my trusty tripod to do it's work. And after a few failed attempt of jump shots at the Tea House Garden, we did another one at the peak as well. Thank God it worked.

While we were at the peak, I decided to take a few couple shots of Bibiey and Paul. The grassy area of the peak was absolutely beautiful and simple. As Chase Jarvis says, "Less Is More". And only after taking all these shots I noticed that they were having a hard time keeping their eyes open while looking at me since I was standing on a step ladder while taking their picture. Anyways, it WAS a random photoshoot anyway.

Then we went up a small hill where my in-laws were waiting for us kids to finish our shooting so we would go up and join them for a picture. After a few group shots, my father in-law showed us a small peak behind us that was covered by clouds that was really pretty to be used as a backdrop. So, got mummy and momo to pose with the peak as the background.

After this shot, I decided to do something "Fun" aka "Stupid". I wanted to push momo's stroller down the hill and let it roll and see how far and fast it can go. That went well, only problem was, the grass in that area was really slippery, and I was wearing only slippers. I fell like a rotten durian on the ground. Embarrassing moment much? Good thing everyone else was already at the waiting area and wasn't watching. Thank God.

After a few laugh over the incident, we were on our way to the Floral Nursery where the flowers are. It was the place that I really wanted to go to and do some floral close-up shoot. Love the flowers and all their colors and all the varieties.

Over all, I'd have to say that it was an eventful day for us all. My goal has finally been reached that was to go to Borneo Highland and get as much picture as I can. Mummy and Momo had a great time and so did the rest. Will go up there again another time but not too soon I hope.

Time For A Change

I've always thought of getting a Mac for myself. But with my current financial situation, honestly don't think I can afford one yet. But, that's the magic of the whole word "YET", which would also mean that I will get one for myself some time in the near future. What's in mind currently is to replace my current PC with a...

Mac Mini! :D

Why the Mac Mini? Because it is the cheapest Mac in the market at the moment. At first, I was bummed that there was no DVI video connection at the back of the unit which means that using my current Dell 22" LCD Monitor was a No Go. But after reading further through the Tech Spec, A HDMI to DVI adapter will be provided! Yay! So, means that, I can use pretty much all my current Pc peripherals on the Mac Mini! All I need to purchase is the unit itself. :D And that's just for the "At Home" unit.

For the Office and Study unit, aka "Mobile" unit, I leaning more towards the,

MacBook Pro 13".

And at the moment, they only come in these two flavors. Honestly, I don't really see that much difference in the packages other than the processor upgrade and the hard disc upgrade. And somehow, that, I think I can do it myself. :D

So, this is what I have in mind at the moment. What do you think? Is it worth it?

What does those letters mean to you? To some people, It would mean “Multi Level Marketing”. For me it’s the same thing, only I decided to name it “Multi Layered Menipulation”. Why Menipulation? Well, it’s pretty much the same thing as Manipulation, only that I want to make sure some really get the drift.Menipu in Malay means Lie, Lying, Cheat, so you get the picture right?

So, last night, I went out to meet my tutor who wanted to introduce to me a new business. What this business promises is great returns within a month just by introducing the business to other people. Seems simple enough. But what was really funny was for the fact that they keep saying that it’s not MLM, but what they showed me through their business plan was that it’s clearly MLM. Everything in their book that they showed me says that it’s MLM. Even the president is an expert in MLM.

So, I’m wondering, why do they keep trying to make me think that it’sNOT MLM? They even brought in some extras to get me to say yes. But, I’m sorry, I just don’t buy into those kind of stuff. But thank you for hanging out with me last night.

Kuching Waterfront Family Outing

It's been a while since I've been out with my family to places outside of the Kampung. So, last sunday, my wife, daughter and I went out for a family lunch. I had a plan to go to the Kuching Waterfront for a Sunday walk, but haven't informed my wife, but I just brought my camera along with me just instead I do decide to inform her and go to the waterfront.

"When we're going out, papa?"

And since the next day I'm going to have my first final exam paper, I needed the rest and relaxation and to just spend time with my family. During lunch, we found out that my sister in law, her fiancée, my mother in law and my niece was also in town having their lunch after church, so at that time, I decided to info my wife about my plan and sugested to her that we can ask my sister in law (Bb) and company to join us at the Waterfront. And she agreed. So, after our lunch, the trip began!

The Waterfront has been the place where tourists love to come to during vacations. And as someone who was born and raised in Kuching, I've only been there a handful of times. Don't know why. Maybe because since it's a place where everyone else goes to hang out, so, going there sometimes would mean that I'd have to go through crowds. Honestly not a fan of big crowds. Unless I'm there to take pictures of events or to do a bit of Street shoots.

As usual, the waterfront was full of tourist and people, especially teens. And there were also some other families that were there for a walk around. And since this was just a general outing with my family, the shots I wanted to take were mostly of my family. Since it's been a while that I've gone out to shoot anything other than our bedroom and my office desk, this was a nice change of pace and a great time to add more pictures of my family in my collection.

While walking around, we came across a building that I've always thought was an abandoned building that had nothing inside it. And when I asked Bb about what was that place, she told me that it was the Kuching Chinese Museum. I was surprised and somehow excited. So, we decided to go and have a look at the museum since non of us other than Bb had been to the museum before.

On the way to the museum, we came across some people that had opened a booth that sells some cultural items and jewelry. It was nice to see that some people are still practicing traditional jewelry making.

Then it was off to the museum. And when I reached the front door of the museum, I saw a sticker on the glass door that photography is not allowed and only with permission. So, I decided to stay outside and take pictures of the waterfront instead. I was a little disappointed, but the, curator asked me to come in. So, as I went in, I asked him if it was ok if I took some pictures, and he said it was ok, and I was overjoyed! So, in I went, trigger happy with my camera.

And while we were at the Waterfront, I took the chance to take pictures of the scenery as well. good thing the lighting was not that bad at that time since it was noon.

After nearly two hours at the waterfront and the museum, Momo was starting to get cranky and sleepy. We were all starting to feel tired as well, but having a great day out, everyone was happy. And with that, my wife and I decided to do this activity more frequently. So, this Sunday, it'll be a different place. :D

Out Of Focus

It's been day, maybe weeks that I've been thinking about this. And A few days ago, it's finally seemed clear to me. I'm slowly loosing focus and touch.

Why I'm saying this? It's mainly because I've noticed that pictures that I take just have no Oomph anymore. Even not to me. Is it because I've been way to focused on the business part and my gears and paying less attention on my pictures? I need to get myself back on track and remind myself why I got myself into this in the first place.

I got into this for the pictures. The beautiful Images I can take and keep to remind me of what I saw that was beautiful to me at that moment. Something that happened that would be hard for me to see again. Something that I've found that fascinates me and I'll never get to see again.

And every since I changed to Canon, I've forgotten about what I used to repeat to myself when I was using Sony. "It's Not The Gear That Makes The Picture, It's YOU!". Now, I need to repeat to myself exactly that to make sure that I'll never forget again.

May god bless me and save me from myself before I go completely off track.

Scrutiny and Shot Down

In 2006, when I got myself involved with Photography, I never knew that there were somewhat of a brand feud between users of these Camera brands. And when I changed brands and joined forums for each respective brands, I noticed how users of the two main brands (Canon & Nikon) scrutinized Sony Alpha DSLRs and their users(Canon thread especially). Just to note, I'm previously a Canon, Nikon and Sony Alpha user who is now back to using Canon again. And every time I see a bad comment about a Sony DSLR, It really pisses me off. I'm not saying that Sony is better than Canon in any way, But they do have their good points as much as their bad points just as any other brands in the market. I know for a fact that Alpha's ISO control is not that good. But it doesn't mean that it can't take good pictures. So far after owning 2 Canons & 2 Sonys, ISO noise doesn't even bother me that much, since I'm going to be using flash anyway.

I'm not blogging about this to say which brand is better. Do note that. I'm blogging about this because I'm seriously pissed and dissatisfied with how Canon & Nikon users shoot down Sony Alpha cameras and users. Seriously, GROW UP!

Valentine's Day

To Couples all over the world and everywhere else, Valentine's day is the best day to spend with loved ones. Spending it together is the best way to do it. Either go to dinner somewhere special, or go to a movie, then just spend some time together. Normally

For me and my wife, It's the same thing too. The only difference is that this year's valentine's day is actually the first time we've spent together ever since we were together. And the best thing is, this year, we got to spend it as a family, with Momo included.

Since Valentine's day fell on the same day as Chinese New Year Celebration, In the morning, we went for visiting to my Best friend's house and then my wife's colleague's house. Then, after going home and we got some rest, We decided to go to Sushi King(SK) at The Boulevard Shopping Mall.

It wasn't the first time Momo went to SK. But it was the first time she went to SK in The Boulevard. Had our usual order, took turns eating and taking care of Momo.

After our dinner, we went around the ground floor of the Mall and decided to take some pictures with the Chinese New Year Decorations that were around.

Have to say that this year's valentine's day was the best of all. Love you dear, Papa Love you Momo. Happy Valentine's Day!

Film Camera Adventures!

It's been a while since I've used a film camera. Last time I remembered, it was when I was in Secondary School. And that is pretty long time ago. And during that time, the camera's that I used can actually be considered as Point-And-Shoot cameras back then.

Back then, having a camera can already be considered a luxury. Best thing about back then was that my grandfather from both my mom and dad were also into photography. From my dad side, my grandfather used to own a Canon F-1 while from my mom's side, my grandfather used to use a Yashica A Medium Format Camera. Used to love playing with those cameras back then.

But since last month, I decided to borrow some of our office's old film camera to test some out while getting the feel of how photography was back then. First Camera I got to play with was a Canon EOS 1000. It has Auto Focus and pretty much all of the functions can be controlled and viewed via the small screen near the shutter button. It was a fine camera to play with but I only got a choice of only two lenses which is the 50mm F1.8 and the 28-80mm F3.5-5.6. But still, it was a fine camera.

After that, I went over and borrowed another camera that our office has which was the Nikon FM2. The the great thing about this camera was that there were more Prime Lenses to play with! Some of them are the 35mm f2.8, 28mm f2, 50mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4, 55mm f2.5 Macro, 105mm f2.5 and the 135mm f2.8. Though some of those lenses already have fungus on them, they were still a joy to play with. Actually finished off 5 rolls of film already with that camera. And also not forgetting, it also has it's very own Battery Pack and forwards the film automatically. The shutter noise from this camera without the battery pack is just nice, but when the Battery pack is connected, the sound of the film forwarding is extremely noisy! Which is why I prefer to use it without the Battery pack most of the time.

All and all, playing with these cameras were damn nice and fun. Even got to play with a Leica M3 camera with some prime lenses too. But what I can say is that using film again is not so cost effective. Unless you have your own dark room where you can actually process the film yourself. Imagine processing a roll of film is RM5 without print. Now imagine processing 6 rolls. That's already RM30. And with that RM30, I could already print out more Digital images than the amount of pictures I would get on 6 rolls of film. But do understand that the chemicals used to process the negatives are not cheap nowadays. Seeing that mostly everyone has moved on to Digital photography. As for me, I think I'll stick with my Sony Alpha 700 Digital SLR. Need to save money.

Been thinking lately about doing a Vlog (Video Blog). Not sure what it's going to be about, but would mostly be about what I know. It might be a tutorial video on basics of photography, or might be IT related. But really thinking about it a lot lately. So, until I really do decide to do it, for now, I'm going to concentrate on my photography.

Stutong Nature Park Trip

Since I was in Primary school, My family and I was staying in a housing area at Tabuan Laru. And somewhere from Tabuan Laru heading to Muara Tabuan Light Industrial Area, There's a Nature park where anyone and everyone can go for a jog, to walk and enjoy the nature or go for some natural reflexology treatment. Used to go there for a jog during my Taekwando days. And it's been roughly a year since I've been there. Yesterday, me and my wife decided to go there and visit the park again since the last time we went there, my wife was pregnant, and she couldn't go for the reflexology walk since it was not recommended for pregnant woman. So, we went there with our Daughter Momo to go for the walk while I took some pictures. It was fun! I admit that I didn't finish the full round but 2 out of 3 parts of the course was not bad indeed.

Now that we've done it and loving every second of it, we're planning to do this at least twice a week. Come on over and try it yourself! It's great for your body. And just trying to stand the pain is more than enough of a workout for me than any other exercise!

Anniversary Dinner

My Life In 16:9 Wide

These few days have been a bit of a bummer for me. It's nothing that bad. It's just that it's been a while since I've been out on a photography outing. Some part of it I have to say that it's a sacrifice I need to make to concentrate more on my family, study and work. But it also gives me a way to think outside my usual self and maybe improve myself in the process.

One of the way was having fun shooting what I have with me everyday. Doesn't matter if it's at work or at home or during class. One of my main model is of course my beautiful daughter Momo and my Wife. And I've also start to see things in the places around me that are quite unique to photograph.

And I've also started to love the 16:9 wide images that my camera can produce. So, during that one day a few days ago, I got these pics. and best of all, the White Balance is spot ON for once!

Baby Kailan In Pictures

Just to let some know, I love to cook at home. It's not to say that I'm great at cooking, but I can say that it's edible. At least there's no complaints so far from my wife. 2 nights ago, we went out to buy some Vegetables and some Chicken meats for dinner. What we bought were some eggplants and some Baby Kailans. I'n not sure what's it called in English though I'm pretty sure the baby part is in English. And while cooking, I decided to take some pictures to walk you through some of the steps in preparing the ingredients and cooking it. So, without further a due, here goes.

1. Ingredients.

4 piece of Garlic, 2 piece of Red Onions and some chillies (depending on taste. not compulsory). All Sliced.

And Not Forgetting 200gm of Baby Kailan!

2. Cooking.

1st off, we heat up the wok. To dry it up.

Then, Pour some roughly 1 ml of cooking oil and heat it up. Not too hot, or it will overcook the ingredients.

When the cooking oil is nice and hot, pour in the ingredients. And cook it till you can smell the onions and garlic cooking.

Then, put in the Baby Kailan. Stir it and mix it with the already cooking ingredients and then when you can start to smell the Kailan cooking, pour in about 1/2ml of hot/warm water to slow cook it and let the flavor seep into the Kailan.

After that, add in 5-6ml of Oyster Sauce for the yummy oyster sauce flavor.

Then, give it a little taste, and if the flavor is not enough, just add in some Salt and Ajinomoto to add to the flavor. Then leave it to cook while keeping it closed for roughly 3-5 minutes. You don't want to cook it too long because then the Kailan would be soft and mushy. After 5 minutes, give it another taste test. Need to SLOW DOWN...

Good Afternoon to one and to all. After reading through a fellow photographer's book and blog, It made me remember that I haven't been updating much at all in my blog. It's not that I'm going to close down my blogger account. In fact, I'm more likely to subscribe to it. But, that's another story.

A lot has happened throughout the whole 4th Quarter of last year when I went AWOL. And most of it would actually change my life and my way of living. But, all is good as the changes would really put my life on the right path.

One of it is that I'm finally getting my 1st Degree! Bachelor of Information Technology with Honors. Already starting my first semester. Really feel proud of myself because I took the first step to a better future for me and my family.

And somehow, lately, I have been really feeling the effects that everybody has been talking about when it comes to studying while working. My social life and time for personal hobby and side jobs have to be really cut down into half. And that means that I need to do things WITH planning first. Which is totally new for me. But is a good thing. A good way to get my life and priorities straight and organized.

Now, what I need to do is to get my Schedules straight to accommodate enough time for my photography (taking photos and editing before handing them out) and my family. Not to mention for skateboarding. Things are going to be tight from now on.

Going online to do things like Facebook, Forums, Clubs and not forgetting uploading photos needs to be cut down as well. I now seriously want to concentrate more on photography, studies and family. Need to stop gaming on Facebook too. It's taking half of my time daily. Maybe leave some for my wife to handle. She loves those games. It's her way to chill and cool down after work.

So, main point I mean to send here is that i'm going to up this blog as much as I can with whatever I can. Take Care.

Concentration & Understanding... of the Sony α700.

Last week, I just made the biggest purchase of the year. And that is when I purchased my Sony Alpha α700! As I mentioned two post back, It's my dream camera. During that post, I had to make a decision of either to get the α700 or the rumored soon to be released a750. I bought this camera 2nd hand and It's still under warranty (Luckily).

During my time, dreaming of owning a α700, I've always knew how it was gonna be a breeze to use and how much the functions will simplify my photography experience. Boy was I wrong. Upon holding the α700, I realized that the weight of the body alone is heavier than my α200 WITH the vertical grip and two batteries! BUT, the feeling of the camera's weight, gives me the sense and feel the solidity of the Magnesium Alloy body. Not to mention how the grip feels so comfortable in my HUGE hands. Just as the α200 did. But I seriously CAN'T imagining attaching a Vertical Grip on this camera. Not to mention two batteries!

Another thing about the body of this camera compared to the α200 is the addition of the rear scroll wheel! Which in Manual mode, lets me control my aperture while the front wheel lets me control the shutter speed. Now that's simplified!

Memory wise, with this camera, I get to have two memory option! It's either I use the standard CF card OR a Sony Memory Card Pro/HG Duo. Which really would help me during long events where I sometimes run out of memory space when shooting RAW.

And with this camera, I can shoot via wireless remote! Without having to buy a separate remote because the package already provides one! Lucky me!

Now so far I've just been talking about the good part about this camera. Now, what's really bugging me about this camera is the White Balance Settings and the Creative Style Settings. I know, some of you might say that I can always just set the camera to use Auto White Balance or leave the Creative Style to Standard or Vivid and not touch any other settings, But during the 1st day of shooting with this camera, 5/8 pictures I shot were EXTREMELY BAD! I'm not going to put up samples here, I just want to note that setting up the white balance and creative style settings on this camera is really challenging! Which I like, somehow. But seriously it makes me feel lost sometimes.

After all this, now I need to go out and keep on shooting, just to get myself used to the settings and to understand when and where to use what settings. This somehow made me think of what would happen if I were to buy the α850 Full Frame camera rather than this α700. Seriously can't imagine how the settings would be on a FF camera. Maybe I'm NOT ready for FF.

But the Main Fact is, I LOVE this camera and all the challenges that comes with it. Now all I need to do is go out and shoot more and more pictures and get used to the different settings. Anyway, here's three pictures that I've taken with this camera. Comments?

Ever since my daughter was born, I've been a worry wart. Especially when it comes to how I treat her and how I bring her around. She's our angel and My flesh and blood. But yesterday, while on my way to go service my wife's car, I saw something that really bothered me.

I'm not gonna blame anyone or say anything about this. It's just that situations like this really makes me think about my daughter and pray to god that I don't endanger her like this. And just a note, their son was sitting at the front basket. WITHOUT a helmet. Pray to god that he may protect them always in their journey.

Confusion

Lately, I've been bitten by a bug called Alpha Upgrade Bug. It somehow carries a disease that been known to cause serious confusion and cravings of camera body upgrading.

I've just been bitten by that bug. And after coming back from a gathering last night, I was even more infected. And now I'm feeling the confusion. And sometimes, I can't even sleep soundly at night unless I think about the next Camera Body Upgrade I'm getting.

Currently, I'm still using my trusty Sony α200 body with the Vertical Grip (VG-B30AM). Sometimes I wonder, Why did I buy the vertical Grip in the first place? Cause honestly, It is underutilized. And I'm even planning on selling it sometime soon.

After the release of the new α550 and α850, I'm seriously torn now. And with the α700 being discontinued, I'm at a total loss now. But after testing and holding my friend's α550 and α700, I'm seriously still in love with the the way the α700 feels in my hands and how comfortable it is. And I'm honestly am not a big fan of Live View. And with the α550's Live View and tilting screen, I'm somehow still eagerly awaiting the arrival of the α700's replacement, rumored as in the form of the α750.

So, right now, even though I'm still Confused and Lost, I've decided that my next upgrade would be either an α700, if I can still find someone who's selling it brand new, or keep saving and get the soon to be released α750. I just hope that the α750 would be priced as much as the α700 when it was first released.

So, now my current goal would be to get all the Full Frame Lenses to cover my needs later on. When I do UPGRADE to Full Frame.

Mc-Guyver attempt, PHAILED!

A few days ago, I posted the story how my glasses frame broke. Last saturday night, I tried to do a McGuyver act on it and wanted to replace the frame legs with a donor, which was my old glasses. One thing led to another..

First checked all the screws that I'm going to need to open

And after replacing the frame legs, I realized that the legs needed support on the sides, if I was going to wear it. And when I tried to put the side frames back on again, I realized that the screws were actually broken! So, one thing led to another, I decided that I needed new frames. So, the next day, I went out with my wife, daughter and mother-in-law and I went to the nearest Optical Store and got myself a new frame for RM80, which was one of the cheap frame that they had. So, Here it is.

As a conclusion, An attempt to do a Mc-Guyver on my glasses PHAILED miserably. Thank You Very Much.

A few months ago, I bought myself a new pair or glasses. Which cost Rm300++. Even though I told the shop that I wanted a cheaper one. This morning, somehow, The frame broke!

Beware of EXPENSIVE but FRAGILE spectacle frame.

*&$# Really PISSED off now. But whatever. Maybe I'll just do a McGuyver skill on it and slap on an old frame handle on it instead. Ceaper-Creeper? or Cheapskate?

Lately, I've been seeing some of my photography friends announcing that they're getting a new camera or changing brands. For me, it's not wrong (obviously). It's their money anyway, so, go ahead. But somehow, all these talk about changing brand and upgrading, really makes me reminisce about my old Canon 350D and Nikon 40D. Seriously miss those two cameras.

The Canon 350D has been with me since 2006 and the D40 was with me only since Feb of 2009. Both were sold off and from those two, I decided to move on to Sony and got myself a Sony Alpha 200 (a200) and never looked back since. I'm not going to spill the details on why I changed brands. Lets just say that it's time to try something new.

But, nowadays, after seeing so many upgrades and updates and even new models coming out like there's no tomorrow from every camera brands out there really somehow makes me want to go back to Nikon or Canon. I'm not saying that those brands are better than Sony, it's just that thinking about the old cameras makes me miss those brands. But, if I do get or go back to either those two brands, I might get a used set of either the Nikon D80 or the Canon 30D. "Why those two" you might ask, well, Just Because.

But, I guess it might be something of the distant future for now. Because I'm planning to stick to Sony for quite some time first. No rush.

For those who are reading this and are deciding that they need a new camera just because the new one has better feature, think about this first, have you really covered every inch of the camera you already have? If not, then don't bother changing because there's going to more things that you are going to need to re-learn. Save your money for your lenses and flashes. Always start form the bottom-up. You'll learn more from there.

It has finally arrived in malaysia! It's the Sony Alpha 850 (a850) Full Frame DSLR!

It's something like the little brother of the Sony Alpha 900 (a900) (RM7500), But only a tad bit different from the a900. And best of all, the street price is only RM6050! Which means it's the cheapest Full Frame (Eqv. to 35mm Film camera) Camera! With 24.6 MegaPixels in it's sensor, Every detail will not be missed! It even shares the same accessories with the a900! like the Vertical Grip, the VG-B90AM!

Another note to be mentioned is the soon to be arrival of the brand new Sony 28-75mm f2.8 SAM lens! Which rumored that it will be the kit lens for the a850! It's not released yet, but I'm expecting great things. Priced at roughly $800 (RM2870), It's a bargain! Especially with the new SAM Autofocus Motor. Since I was considering of getting the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 (RM1500) as my walkabout lens in the near future anyway.

So, right now, eagerly awaiting for the time the Sony 28-75mm f2.8 SAM to arrive so I can test it and maybe compare it to the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8. When it does arrive, will put up my personal review on those two lens. Seriously can't hardly wait.

Camwhoring For The Masses

Now, all of you out there knows what "Camwhoring" means right? Well, for those who don't know, It means acting like a whore in front of your camera, or with better words, self portrait with expressions.

Some might think that camwhoring pics looks stupid. But, for me, somehow, it's an art form. Because seriously, it's not easy to take pictures of yourself while holding a 2Kg DSLR with Flash and Vertical Grip.

Seriously, It ain't easy. Nor is it light.

So, maybe that's why some camwhoring "experts" often do it with a Point-And-Shoot camera or better yet, a Camera phone. But the main reason some people use DSLR camera for camwhoring is because of the details. But for that, you need to lose the Vertical Grip, Use a lighter lens (50mm should do if you're camwhoring alone. But you need the wide angle of you're with a crowd) and make sure you're camwhoring in a brightly lit place, in case you want to ditch the Flash as well.

Throughout my 4 years of working as a computer technician, I've seen and touched every brand and type of computer related item that's ever been produced. Even used the very classic DOS 6.6 with Windows 3.1 in the 90s. It's a good thing that my dad started me early with computers because it really help dampen my feeling of need to know about the computer world day by day.

Understatement of a wasted mind...

Have you ever been pressured so much by people around you that you just seriously don't know what else you can do?

Somehow feel that on a daily basis. Now that I'm a father of one, I feel it so much more. Day after day, I think about consequences of what I did in the past that WILL haunt me in the next few days or maybe later. Sometimes I feel that pressure is just waiting for me around the corner and just waiting to eat me alive.

What do I have to fall back on when everything goes down? Myself.
It's not that I can't go to my family. It's just that I don't what to.

But somehow, every day I go home and I see the face of my beautiful daughter and my wife, it just seems to go away. Sometimes I just feel like staying at home and be with my daughter so that I don't have to think of the pressures that are awaiting for me the next day.

Working at home and starting a business is an option. But, how much do I know about starting a business? None at all. I can learn about it. Been thinking about it. But, can I do enough to keep the business alive and going for the following years? Especially when It's going to be what I need to support my family.

Right now, thinking so much about it just not a good decision. So, shutting up now.

Our 1st 09 Vacation

14th March 2009 was our first vacation in the year of 2009. The best part it was that I was going to Genting Highlands and the KL Tower. Never been to both places before in my whole life. So, this is going to be the 1st time. First would be the KL Tower trip, then off to Genting the next day. After Genting, our trip brought us to Masjid India where my wife, sister and mother in-law wanted to buy some cloths. Then it would be back to Kuching for us. A short but memorable trip indeed.

This road trip to KL Tower was the 1st thing in our agenda. The night before, after arriving in KLIA, we were picked up by Uncle Mana where we stayed at his house for the first day of the trip.

Really exited when I saw the view. Since none of us knew how to get to KL Tower my foot, and Unlce Mana had to work, we asked my wife's cousin and husband to be our guide. Never knew that going to the tower would take more than 30minutes. But I guess that was part of the trip. Was kind of worried about my wife's parents. But we made it safe and sound. Thank God. :oD

Genting Highlands Trip
The day after our trip to KL Tower, my sister in-law came down from Kedah to join us for our trip to Genting Highlands. After we all woke up and got all our thing ready, we went straight to KL Central to get a bus to go to Genting. Somehow forgot how much the ticket cost but hey, it was my first time to Genting. Didn't really matter then.

Had our lunch at KL Central before departing for Genting since we heard that the food price there were really expensive.

All and all, I'd like to say that the trip was a great one. But, after this trip, I've decided that I won't be going to Genting anytime soon because me and my wife are really not the types that loves going to places that are packed with people and the things sold there are more expensive than any High Class shopping complex that you can find in KL.

Best part of the trip was that I get to spend time with my wife before I go back to Mukah.

First of all, I would like to say that I've been living here in Mukah for more than 3 years now and among all the traditional foods that I've tasted, I'd really have to say that the best food I've tasted here is really the dumplings made especially at Sweet Bun Bakery Co. Mukah.

And with all the dumpling they offer which includes Chicken, Chicken w/ egg, Butter, Red Beans and Peanuts, my forever favourite would always be their Vegetable dumplings, presented together in a stacked metal box, which I would love to call the magic box of dumplings because when you open them, they all just look so yummy and pretty.

Or whatever that goes with it. It's now already November and I'm still as big and fat as I was before. Not sure why some things haven't change much. But hey, there's still time to change all that. It's with doing some exercise. Obvious eh?

Well, now that my wife's finally here with me to stay, We've started a new resolution for me (can't believe I needed my wife to start a resolution for me). I've been doing some sports here these few months, especially my favourite sport of all time which is Skateboarding and also been playing football with some of my colleagues here as well. But I haven't been seeing much results though.

So, here I am and It's November and I'm actually doing the exercise I actually don't like to do so much.

First of all, I would like to commend Honda for producing a sexy baby car which was given the name 'Jazz' (or 'Fit' in Japan) for us all to buy and love and just enjoy it's pleasure and beauty. From the first time I laid my eyes on it's beautiful and sexy body, I just couldn't get enough.

Sometimes I always get people telling me that I talk more than what I do. And I have to admit, sometimes I do. Now I'm wondering why do I do it?

Is it because:
a) I just love to do it to annoy other people (including those I love)??
b) I was born an asshole from the beginning who just love to piss everyone off??
c) Or maybe I learned it from those who are close to me who does the same??

Well, whatever the damn reason is, I'm gonna stop TALKING shit and more DOING stuff.

Why I'm putting them together in this entry is because I'm wondering what's the freakin dispute about who was and is the better singer in Saosin. The reason why I say this is beacuse I've been hearing so much about how Cove Reber is unsuited for the job as vocalist in Saosin with their songs and how much people are prefering Anthony Green's voice instead.

In 2 more months our institution is going to hold our very first convocation. It's a real big @$$ deal. I'm not sure what it means to me, but what I know is that I'd be involved with the multimedia part of the whole thing with some of my other colleagues who are also part of our technical staff. The first trial for this multimedia team was our Head of Department's Award. It was decided that it was going to be made more like a convocation style. The day passed nicely. Only bad thing was, I wasn't told about any of this, especially the part that I was actually with the multimedia team.

Anyway, the next day, we had our last day of our multimedia course. But, this time, I was told about it. So, I joined in on the course. After hearing comment on the day before by 3 guest lecturers, I was impressed with what they said. There were more good comments than bad ones. During the course, even got to learn about some new equipments that was bought in lieu with the convocation. Video camera control consoles. Nice. Somehow seemed like something a big tv company would use for TV shows.

Anyway, now I finally know which part I'm involved with and heard that there's going to be a team building course in the near future for all technical staffs. That's good.

Meetings

Meetings,Meetings,Meetings. There's always meetings being held. Doesn't matter what company you work at, meetings will always be held. Bonus question, Why does meetings have to be so long??

This meeting started at 3pm-530pm.

Longest I've been in a meeting was two and a half years ago. The meeting actually lasted from 830am, all the way to 6pm. And I was there doing nothing. To some, It might be fun to just sit and do nothing at all, but for me, it was a real waste of my time. Seriously, 2 hours is already long enough for me. Right??

Fire Drill-erz

30/07/08. That's the date for the 1st ever fire drill being held in our institution. At first we thought that it was just meant for the students, but since this time it was for real, so, all of us went along and went straight to the assembly area.

Students in the hot sun, Staffs in the shade.

As you can see in the picture, the middle are is empty. This was because it was reserved for supporting departments. There were 2. The fire department Officer that arrived declared that all the staff in those 2 departments as "Fried to death", even though they were actually at the assembly grounds. Reason? they were all sitting at the grandstand while the students were on the field. Officially, we were all supposed to be on the field. I guess during emergencies like this fire drill, students were still considered lower than than the staffs. no equalities. But wont they be considered as equals when they get burnt to a crisp?

People and POWER... Something you can never separate. That's life.

Overcome the layzee

It's a new month already and I'm updating an entry at 3am in the morning. somehow have some better idea when I'm updating at this time of the day.

What I'm gonna talk about is wonderment. "What does it mean?" you say? Don't ask me. All I can say about that word is that I'm wondering about something and It's been haunting me for quite some time now.

So now, back to my WONDERMENT. This item is purely IT based. So, anyone who might know how to help out or give me some suggestions or ideas, please feel free to do so.

no more Mr. Pau

I'm currently wondering about the so called water cooled PC system would be better than the conventional air cooled system. As from my previous entry, you can see that my PC is encased in Mr. Pau. But because of some rather disturbing overheating issues I had while my pc was running in the case, I just had to move it out of the freakin box back into a conventional computer case (which I've drilled in as much hole as I can to make way for better air flow for my radiator).

And now that it's in the pc casing, I've installed my Water Cooling System, which consists of a custom CPU water block, a Thermaltake radiator + 120mm fan and a Nirox 2800 pump. All and all, everything installed and running through my CPU, I still can't get the desired temperature that I've heard so much of where some even come close to 20C.

Mine somehow, remained at 40~45C during Idle but rose consistantly from 63~65C during 100% load and kept on going. I'm not sure what's the suitable temp for the CPU, but what I've read, I should try and keep it below 60~65C at load. And this is with a Water Cooled setup. So, what am I doing wrong here?

My wild guess is that because my pump is in my water tank, it kept heating up the water during pumping cycle, so, when it reaches the radiator, the water could only be cooled down to just 40~45C. Is that a good thing? Somehow feel a little uneasy.

So please, anyone, ENLIGHTEN me! tell me something I don't know or doing wrong.

P/s: I'm using a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (OverClocked to a steady 3.0GHz).

We never had any vocalist before. Not sure till when. Sometimes we take turns singing. Sometimes it's me, sometimes it's Frizzol and sometimes it's Julian. We used to have a sessionist Bassist, but he was really hard to contact. We used to have guest vocalist, but that's that as well.

Now, it's been too long since there's any action, I'm wondering If there's going to be much anymore. One of us is really starting to get hard to contact. So, there might be a cutoff and might minus a member.

Go Figure.

It's been a while since I've had the thought and idea of doing something with "Mr. Pau aka Mr. Dumpling" and it doesn't involve eating it. But as you all know, dumplings all have something that's put inside for extra taste and flavour eg: Meat, Vege, Butter, etc. That's why I decided to call this document box as "Mr. Pau" because I'm going to put something in it and turn it into something else. It's finally Official. Today is the 15th of June and I've just turned to a tender golden age of midlife crisis and quite possibly wrinkles. If you're saying "there's also white hair", well, I got loads of those before my 16th year, so, It's not a big issue to me.

I've already passed 1/4 century of my life. And I'm expecting to spend all of it with those I love and with god's guidance, be successful along the way as well, For my children and their children and for more generations to come.

Invasion KL

Today is the 29th of march 2008 and today is the day I'm going to KL and spend the whole week the with my dear wife. Been planning this trip since 2 months ago. It's been quite some time since I've spend time wth my wife and really looking forward to it.

The part that's even better was my AirAsia flight ticket that was just rm73. It was during the rm0.00 promo in january when i got my return tickets. But the bad part was the fact that the flight was an early morning flight,which is at 9:25am. And the earliest bus from mukah on the same day would usually reach sibu at 9:30 the earliest. That's late. So, my plan was to get a 5:30pm bus from Mukah and spend the night at sibu airport.

At the airport, at first i thought that thy were going to close down n they'd ask me to leave. But good thing i was wrong. An airport police told me that they'd be there till morning and if i wanted to sleep, i could sleep at one of the muslim praying area. So, I'm glad I met up with the police.

Got up at 5 in the morning and I realize that It's been quite some time since I've used airasia to go to kl though. And when i got on the plane,I noticed that its a new plane and all the interiors were remade in leather and they looked really plush n expensive.

Cool eh? Even got an AirAsia.com engraved into the back of the headrest. Real nice indeed. The bad thing was, during my flight, the pressure in the flight was SO intense that my head was really ready to pop! But instead, I got a headache. Maybe that's 1 of the reason I haven't been using AirAsia for so long.

Everyone was waiting to get out of the plane.

Reached LCCT at roughly 11:30, and after picking up my luggage, went straight outside to catch the 1st skybus to Kl Sentral. Was a little late and the bus was full. So, had to catch the next one. Good thing it's only a 5 minute wait. And then, noticed the the skybus was also new! Got inside and noticed the nice seats and interiors. Very cool indeed.

Brand New Baby!

The even cooler part was the driver. Silent, Friendly and sleepy looking. But he's cool. He's the 1st and only driver that I've ever seen or been on a bus with who drives a big ass bus over a 120KM/h. I don't know if it's because of the fact being that we're in KL and 120 is just the creme of the crop. Just kidding.

Around 1pm, reached KL Central, so I straight away went on and got myself a LRT ticket to Masjid Jamek to get another train to Plaza Rakyat to meet up with my wife. On the train reaching Pasar Seni, I notice some real cool stuff on the walls of the huge drain beside the station. Graffiti arts. Real nice ones too. But the sad thing was, they were being painted over aka removed. It's a real pity because It would be a great place where travelers to see that some Malaysians are real great artists.

Music Room

It's been nearly half a year now since our Polytech got our whole set of musical instruments and it's only been 2 months since our very own Music Club was formed by Hatta. And on the 15th of this month, which was last 2 weekend, they had their 1st live accoustic performance which was in conjunction with the opening of our Red Wave Week that was organized by the Electrical Engineering Department.

The day before, I had the chance to catch a practice session for 1 of the bands that would be playing. And I just have to say that these guys had real mad musical skills. They were really talented. But sadly I couldn't go and catch their performance on that night. But I know the audience would absolutely love their music.

For now my hope is that these guys would hone their talents and take it a step further and maybe more. And maybe a future plan to upgrade the music room will come sooner than later.

I Reached And I Conquered

The date was 20th March 2008. Today was the day that I'm going to set out on my wildest dreams and ambition cause ever since the first time I saw it I knew that I just had to conquer it. And counting the days now and it's close to 3 years since that day. And that day was the time that I just had to do it.

Now some of you might wonder what am I talking about and maybe some of you already know and what I'm talking about is actually my 3 years dream of going up our water tower. Well, some might say that I'm crazy, and some might say it's cool. Now just try imagining going half way up the the Eiffel Tower and looking down on the whole of Paris. That's how I imagined it. At the top, able to see the whole of Polytech Mukah and maybe even more! Cool huh?

Niceeee....

At first I've always thought that going up the tower was just a piece of cake and that it had spiral stairs all the way to the top. But, Boy was I wrong. When Mark and I first stepped into the tower's entrance, I was shocked. The ladder was actually something I would normally see in a WWE Ladder Match. And honesly, I was getting ready to turn back and just go. But somehow, some part of me seem to keep calling me 'Chicken' ( maybe it's my male ego or something ), and so, I decided to go for it and climb the damn thing. Surprisingly, Mark joined me as well. And among all the technician that's working here, the only ones that have not been to the top of this tower was Mark, Me and Sucan. And Mark's a little scared of heights. So, It's more like we're motivating each other while going up.

So we climbed. And after the 1st ladder, I was starting to have my doubts and looking down was not helping at all and there were 5 ladders to climb before we reach the top. And from the pain I was starting to feel in my hands that after reaching the top, going down won't be as easy. And as we went on, I was really starting to feel the pain in my hands as they were already getting red. And after reaching the top, I tried to look down and I really can't believe how high up we were. My knees were really shaky when I got off the last ladder.

And finally we reached the top and the exit door was there. And just as soon as we stepped out of the door, the sights were just breathtaking.

I can see everything from here.. Just need and extra Binoculars..

Well, as you should know, every good thing must come to an end right? And knowing that we had work to do on that day as well, we had to cut thing short and go back down. It's a real nice view from the top. And going down the WWE Ladders somehow didn't hurt as much anymore knowing that we conquered the water tower. But then, all I could think of was how to stop my knees from buckling so much. Damn.

Time to go down.. 5 sets of ladders..

Maybe next time we'll bungee jump from the top, eh? hehe.. Cheers people!

On the 2nd of Febuary 2008, My very good friend, Roderic "Mini Me" Robert, got married. Congrats so very much to ya Bro! You're all grown up now! Hahahaha...
